It’s Brutal Baby! Is a 25 minute live dance and animation work made for my honours research in 2019. The work featured three aspects developed over the year which came together in the performance to make a sprawling multi disciplinary work. An animated portion was developed over the year as an ongoing “straight ahead” improvised animation practice, this was projected in the work alongside 3D scans and live video feed of the dance. 

The choreography was developed out of my martial arts history, recent investigations into contact improvisation and image based embodied improvisation.

This work was an experiment in the meeting of dance, animation and artistic research into power and embodiment. This work was also my first foray into choreography.
